14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Hebrews 2:14

Biblical Context

Plain summary: Humans are mortal, sharing flesh and blood. Jesus joins that mortal state so death's power—the devil—can be broken.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within Neville's reading, the 'children' are states of consciousness; 'flesh and blood' is the mortal viewpoint. When the Christ 'took part' in that same condition, it signifies the inner man identifying with the texture of mortal life. Death, then, is not an external event but the belief that life ends, a power wielded by the 'devil' of fear and separation. By entering into that state—by imagining himself within the mortal frame—the Christ neutralizes the fear that death enforces. The act of 'destroying' death's power comes through a change of consciousness: when you acknowledge you are the I AM, the life that never dies, you revise the narrative of separation. Imagination is the instrument that makes this real: you pretend you are already the one who has overcome fear, and you feel it as now. The 'devil' recedes as you dwell in the awareness that you are the life and power, not the body nor its end. Thus the inner Christ liberates the self from death by awakening to its true spiritual nature.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume you are the I AM, already living beyond fear. Feel the truth as if it were real now, and declare, 'I am the Life that destroys the power of death.'
