Biblical Context
Hebrews 13:2-3 invites hospitality to strangers, hinting that by welcoming others you may entertain angels unawares. It is a call to live with compassion, remembering the bonds of those who suffer as one body.
Neville's Inner Vision
Assume you are already entertaining the stranger, for this is really the recognition of your own I AM. Hospitality is not an act you perform; it is a state of consciousness you awaken. When you imagine welcoming another—with warmth, listening, and offering what is at hand—you are inviting the divine presence to dwell in the room and in your heart. The 'angel' you fear or doubt may be the living signal of your higher self, appearing as another soul in need. By feeling it real, you dissolve separation; you affirm that all beings are skins of the same light. Remembering those in bonds or in adversity becomes a recollection of the body as one organism, not separate sufferers. In that inner posture, love of neighbor becomes love of the I AM that is in all. So I tell you: your generosity is the savor of your own reality; your mercy confirms your oneness. Practice this assumption, and the world will reflect your inner hospitality back to you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In the next moment, assume you are hosting a stranger in your inner room. Feel their presence as sacred and worth your full attention until the sensation becomes real in you.
