Sacrifice of Praise Within
Hebrews 13:15-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Hebrews 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
It invites continual praise and gratitude—the fruit of the lips—along with doing good, sharing, and honoring inner guides who shepherd the soul. It also calls for obedience to the inner authority so your life can be joyful rather than burdensome.
Neville's Inner Vision
To me the text becomes a map of inner law: praise is not an outward ritual but a state of consciousness I sustain. By him through the I AM let us offer the sacrifice of praise continually, the fruit of the lips being gratitude expressed from the awareness that God is my I AM. Such praise is not a performance aimed at a distant deity but a reaffirmation of the truth that I am the living idea of God, and gratitude calls that idea into fuller expression. To do good and to communicate forget not, for such sacrifices please God. The do good is the act of extending inner abundance outward as acts that bless others, and communicate is the sharing of this inner wealth in thought and deed. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves for they watch for your souls as they that must give account that they may do it with joy and not with grief for that is unprofitable for you. The rule over you is your inner governor the higher idea you consent to obey. When you align with that idea you feel joyous energy; resistance collapses and life flows in harmony.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of being already grateful and in harmony with your highest inner authority. Then in the next moment voice gratitude in your mind and commit one small good deed to reinforce this inner alignment.
