Hebrews 13:1-7 Inner Homecoming

Hebrews 13:1-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 13 in context

Scripture Focus

1Let brotherly love continue.
2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Hebrews 13:1-7

Biblical Context

Hebrews 13:1-7 exhorts constant brotherly love, hospitality, solidarity with the imprisoned and the suffering, a pure life, contentment, and trust in God's lasting presence.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine these verses as a map of your inner life. Brotherly love is the steady glow of your I AM toward every neighbor; to entertain strangers is to awaken the possibility that others are expressions of your consciousness, angels unawares stepping forth when you regard another with worth. Remembering those in bonds and those who suffer becomes a recognition that all forms of adversity are figures in the same living body of your awareness, and you share their fate as you claim your unity. Marriage is honor in all, and the bed undefiled, when you honor the sacred joining within your own imagination and keep it free of manipulation. Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as you have, for the promise 'I will never leave thee' asserts the constancy of your own consciousness. Therefore you may boldly say, 'The Lord is my helper,' and you fear nothing men can do. Follow the faith of those whose words and inner life reflect this unity, considering the end of their conversation as your own.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the state of being surrounded by love, treating every person you meet as a facet of your own consciousness. Then revise any fear by stating, 'I am never alone; the Lord is my helper,' and feel that truth becoming your lived feeling.
