Hebrews 12:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 12 in context

Scripture Focus

5And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Hebrews 12:5-6

Biblical Context

God's correction is not punishment but loving discipline aimed at growth. Those whom God loves are refined through His rebuke, shaping obedience and character.

Neville's Inner Vision

Remember, you are not addressing an external judge, but the I AM within who calls you to greater truth. The exhortation speaks to the child in you; when you feel a tightening, a rebuke of belief, do not flee. Chastening is the inner movement that pushes your state from a lesser perception to a higher consciousness. The lord who chastens is your own higher self, the love that refuses to let you settle for less than your divine nature. When you experience friction, resistance, or confusion, recognize it as the soul’s purifying fire, designed to awaken clarity and faith. Since God’s love is the motive, the discipline is not suffering but a shift in awareness into a truer I AM presence. As you align with that presence, you begin to see every trial as a sign that your inner identity is expanding. The rebukes become invitations to revise old stories, to persist in faith, and to feel the reality you seek already imagined.

Practice This Now

Practice: at the moment of inner chastening, close your eyes, declare 'I am the I AM, and this correction is for my awakening,' and feel yourself already living from that higher state. Rehearse this revision daily until it feels natural.
