Biblical Context
Hebrews 12:28 speaks of an unmovable kingdom we are receiving, and exhorts us to cultivate grace to serve God with reverence and godly fear.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here the apostle does not point to a distant future so much as to a present inner reality. The 'kingdom' is your state of awareness, the I AM that cannot be moved by fear, lack, or circumstance. To 'receive' it is to acknowledge that you already are the ruler of your inner landscape, and the world but lags behind your inner posture. Grace is not a favor bestowed from without; it is your capacity to stay aligned with the true you, to adjust your assumption until the outer events reflect that inner set. When you serve God 'acceptably' with reverence and godly fear, you are not performing rites; you are keeping your attention upon the sacred I AM, cultivating worship as a posture of inner gratitude and awe. The fear mentioned is healthy awe, not terror, a disciplined attention that guards your kingdom from erosion by images of failure. The practice is to assume, here and now, that the unshakable kingdom is present, and to let your day be an expression of that reality in how you speak, think, and feel.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In the next moment, repeat, 'I am the kingdom that cannot be moved,' and feel the certainty rise as a living assurance. Then choose a small task and perform it as reverent worship, aligning your thoughts and actions with that inner posture.
