Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
In Haggai 2:1-2, God speaks through the prophet to Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the people, inviting them to take up their leadership and priestly roles and to acknowledge God's presence as the motive and power behind their task.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the scene as a map of the inner life: Zerubbabel is your executive will, Joshua your spiritual faculty, and the residue of the people the rest of your thoughts and feelings. The word of the LORD delivered by Haggai is not distant history; it is a present inner directive, a call to align these faculties under one I AM. When you hear 'Speak now to Zerubbabel ... and to Joshua ... and to the residue of the people,' hear it as: attend to your inner governor, your inner high priest, and all the others, and declare a unity of purpose. The seventh month and the one and twentieth day point to a precise moment of inner completion—your temple can be rebuilt now, here, by consciousness taking responsibility. This is covenant loyalty: you commit your will to the larger purpose, your worship to the Living Presence, and your inner community to cooperate. The 'word of the LORD' is always now; the I AM instructs you to act in harmony with your true nature and mission. Your task is to listen, receive, and act as one.
Practice This Now
Assume you are hearing the inner directive now; imagine Zerubbabel (your will), Joshua (your spiritual insight), and the residue (your thoughts) gathered in one circle, receiving the word as present guidance. Feel it real that you act as one, and revise any doubt by reaffirming your mission.
