Biblical Context
God is from everlasting, the Holy One, and we are assured of life. He ordains judgment and uses correction to refine us.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Habakkuk, the question 'Art thou not from everlasting' is a statement of your own nature: you are the I AM that never dies, the unchanging witness behind every sight. When you say 'we shall not die,' you claim the vitality that never leaves awareness itself; you refuse the notion that appearances govern you. The line 'O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction' translates into the inner law: events arise to judge and correct your beliefs, not to defeat you. In Neville's teaching, the outer world is merely a translation of your inner state. If you accept the eternal, you simultaneously revise the present, choosing to interpret trials as instruction from the I AM. By dwelling in the solid assurance of consciousness, you stop resisting life and let your inner state do the work of transformation. The 'everlasting' God within you unfolds as continuity of awareness; there is no end in sight, only opportunities to revise your assumption until your feeling aligns with the truth that you are already what you seek.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, rest your hand on your heart, and say, 'I AM the everlasting I AM.' Feel the unchanging life within you as present now, then revise a current fear by affirming, 'This situation is for my correction; I am safe, vibrant, and unbound.'
