Inner Death, Inner Renewal

Genesis 7:21-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Genesis 7 in context

Scripture Focus

21And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
22All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
Genesis 7:21-22

Biblical Context

All flesh that moved on the earth dies; all who had the breath of life in their nostrils perish. The verses convey a decisive end to a reigning condition, setting the stage for renewal.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, the language of death is never final; it speaks of endings in the mind. 'Breath of life' is your awareness animating the body of your life; therefore, to die here means a shift in consciousness away from a familiar life to a higher form of being. The flood represents the cleansing power of imagination that washes away a limited identity. You cannot remain as you were if you would awaken to a greater expression of life; judgment comes to release you from old images that keep breathing life into fear, lack, or separation. Yet within the judgment lies providence: when one image dies, another more expansive image can be born. The ark you seek is not a material vessel but a steady, inner state that holds the new creation in consciousness until it becomes your experience. Remember: you are always the I AM; your reality follows your assumption. Do the work now by imagining that you are already this higher life and feel the truth of it in every cell.

Practice This Now

Assume the state, 'I am the breath of life now and forever.' Close your eyes, let the old image dissolve as a flood recedes, and rest in the feeling of a renewed creation blooming from within.
