Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Genesis 7:19-20 depicts waters overpowering the earth and covering the high hills and mountains. This inner scene signals a total inner cleansing and the dissolution of inner elevations.
Neville's Inner Vision
Genesis 7:19-20 tells of waters that prevail over the earth and cover the highest hills; so too, in the inner world, the flood of consciousness sweeps away the hills of fear, pride, and limitation. These hills are not outside places but inner dispositions that would keep the I AM from ruling. When I understand that the I AM is the only reality, the apparent mountains crumble beneath the flow of awareness; the fifteen cubits are symbolic measure of the depth to which the old self is carried by divine life. The judgment spoken of in the story becomes a gracious accounting within: you notice a shift in feeling, a releasing of attachments, a willingness to be led by Providence. The flood does not punish; it rearranges the inner terrain so that a new creation can arise—renewal, restoration, a state where every thought, feeling, and image is submerged in God and thus refashioned as peace, power, and purpose. I am not a separate observer but the I AM experiencing itself as you; through this immersion, you awaken into your true kingdom.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are already submerged in the inner flood; revise your self-image to 'I am the I AM, and my mountains are dissolved in awareness.' Rest in that feeling for a few breaths and let the old identity be carried away by the current of God.
