Biblical Context

God states that His Spirit will not strive with man forever, for man is flesh, and life spans will be limited. The giants arise when the divine and human natures mingle, producing mighty men who are renowned.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, this text speaks not of distant beings but of inner states. The Spirit’s withdrawal reflects the moment you identify with a finite self-image; you are not condemned—your awareness has simply limited itself to a worn-out story. The 'flesh' represents habitual self-image, and the '120 years' marks the window given to the old dream before you awaken to a new consciousness. The 'giants' are your grand beliefs about what cannot be changed; the 'sons of God' and 'daughters of men' symbolize the conflict and union of your divine faculties with your personal history. When your imagination (the divine) intermingles with your past narratives (the human), you birth powerful images—mighty beings and renown—through which you experience life. The remedy is inner revision: insist that you are the I AM, the Spirit within, and adopt the feeling of your wish already realized. In that state, the old time-limit dissolves and the imagined giants fade into the life you intend.
