Joseph and his brothers bury their father and then return to Egypt, continuing their journey in the ordinary course of life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here I hear the Bible as the whisper of your own mind. Joseph stands for the living I AM, the Knowing that remains when images of father and elder claim authority. The voyage to Egypt is the busy stage of daily life, the world of appearances where you must act and be seen. When Joseph buries his father, you are not honoring a corpse but letting go of a long-held image of authority that bound your action. The return into Egypt, with his brothers and all who joined, declares that awareness does not abandon the world; it returns into it, crowned with harmony and guidance from within. Providence does not rescue you from the world; it operates in you and through you, unifying the circle of your thoughts, your family of aspects, and your promises. Thus the outer movement—resuming life, continuing the journey—reflects the inner certainty: I have buried the old belief, I am free, and I move forward with unity, supported by the inner family of my convictions.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Take a moment to assume the state 'I AM' as you step back into daily life. Revise any sense of separation by imagining your inner family surrounding you in support and unity, and feel the certainty of Providence guiding your steps.
