Biblical Context
This passage records Adam fathering Seth in his own likeness, then Seth fathering Enos, and so on; it notes long lifespans and the eventual death of each patriarch.
Neville's Inner Vision
Adam is the I AM of your consciousness; when he 'begat a son in his own likeness,' a new state of awareness arises that mirrors your current image. Seth is that birth—a living idea that begins to govern your day. The long years after are not physical time but inner persistence: you keep feeding the newborn state with imagination, and it shines into your world as 'sons and daughters'—new conditions, habits, or perceptions that reflect the inner pattern. The genealogy shows successive births: Enos, Cainan, and so forth—each a refinement of your inner life. Death at the end of each line marks the moment when the old narrative yields to a higher expression; you are free to revise by choosing a new image today. So, when you notice a memory or habit clinging to you, realize you can plant a successor—a Seth—whose image aligns with your desired life. Your I AM births the living line; with discipline of assumption, you can live as the elder Seth living in renewed time.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes, declare 'I am the image of my higher self now,' and feel that state as real in your chest. Stay with it for a minute, then act from that assumption as you move through the day, inviting new patterns to arise.
