Read Genesis 48 in context

Scripture Focus

16The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
Genesis 48:16

Biblical Context

Jacob invokes the Angel who redeemed him to bless his grandsons, asking that his name and the names of Abraham and Isaac be placed on them so they may become a multitude.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think that the Angel is the I AM within you, the redeeming power that dissolves every fear. Jacob names the two lads with a vow: let the blessing of his consciousness rest upon them, let his name and the names of Abraham and Isaac be on their life. This is not a myth; it is a technique. The 'lads' are your continuing thoughts and intended future, and the act of blessing is the induction of a new state of consciousness—the covenant loyalty to a good you have settled in your own sense of self. When you assume that the I AM has blessed them, you are blessing your own line of experiences; you are declaring that your inner ancestry is anchored in constancy, faith, and fruitful multiplication of outcomes. The angelic act is inner also: the moment you accept the claim that your life is already complete, the names you carry—your past, your lineage of ideas—become living patterns. You grow into a multitude by remaining faithful to that inner naming and by treating imagination as the governing power of your world.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly; claim, 'I AM the Angel within me; I bless my line now, and let my name be named on it.' Visualize a scene where your desired blessing already exists, and dwell there with the feeling of truth.
