Read Genesis 44 in context

Scripture Focus

19My lord asked his servants, saying, Have ye a father, or a brother?
20And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.
21And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.
Genesis 44:19-21

Biblical Context

The lord asks if there is a father or brother; the brothers reply that they have an old father and a beloved young son, the last of his mother, whom the father loves, and the lord commands to bring him so he may see him.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this Genesis drama the lord before whom you stand is your own I AM, the recognizing Presence that can see any state. The question of a father or brother is your inward inventory: an older, wiser aspect (the father) and a precious younger consciousness (the little one) who remains loved, even as the notion of a dead brother fades. The demand to bring the child to the lord invites you to bring your most cherished state into the light of awareness, to fix your gaze upon it with total acceptance. When you declare, 'Let me set mine eyes upon him,' you are not moving a person but awakening your attention to the truth that your living center already loves and sustains every part. The drama dissolves once you realize the inner child is the actual demonstration of wholeness the I AM has always provided; belief loosens as feeling confirms your oneness with your divine state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine the inner child—the beloved little one—standing at the center of your awareness; say to yourself, 'I bring you into the sight of my I AM,' and feel the warm gaze of wholeness resting upon him.
