Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
In Genesis 43:5, the brothers insist on bringing Benjamin and only proceed if he is with them; the man will not meet them without their brother.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Genesis 43:5 as a scene inside your consciousness. The boys declare, 'We will not go down unless we bring him'—a demand your I AM places on you to bring a hidden portion of yourself into the light. The man who speaks to them is the governor of appearances, the gatekeeper of your awareness. He says you shall not see his face unless your brother is with you; in other words, you will not meet the fullness of your Self until you acknowledge and unite the two halves of your life—the conscious and the unknown, the orderly and the wild, the desire and its fulfillment. The repetition of the demand becomes, in truth, a blessing: your inner loyalty to the covenant of wholeness requires you to stand firm and bring forth your kin-like energy to accompany your intention. When you refuse, you stay at the outer gate; when you accept, you pass into the face of God, into the reunion of self and purpose, guided by the providence that already loves you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume that your inner brother is with you now; feel his presence as you move forward in confidence, and imagine the gatekeeper of circumstance granting access to your wholeness.
