Scripture Focus

4And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
Genesis 37:4

Biblical Context

Genesis 37:4 shows that Joseph's brothers hate him because their father loves him more, creating a climate of unspoken conflict.

Neville's Inner Vision

Joseph in this text is not merely a boy among brothers, but a state of consciousness that feels seen and alive. The brothers are the scattered thoughts of doubt and jealousy that arise when I sense I am not wholly acknowledged by the whole of my being. The father’s love stands for I AM—the one undivided awareness that favors none and includes all. When I identify with a favored state, the others react as if I threaten their existence; the energy of peace cannot speak through them, and conflict is projected outward. Yet the inner truth remains: the I AM loved me before I sought love, and the sense of possession or neglect is but a motion in my own mind. If I insist that I am loved now, by that eternal Presence, the climate changes: the dreamer within awakens to wholeness, and the hostile voices lose heat. In that knowing, I can speak peace to every part of myself, for there is no true separation in God-consciousness. The moment of harmony is the only true reality I choose to acknowledge.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already the beloved of the I AM. Feel that love in your chest, and revise the scene by speaking peace to each inner part until harmony replaces hostility within.
