Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse simply states that Joseph was sold into Egypt and placed under Potiphar, an official of Pharaoh.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the inner ear, Genesis 37:36 speaks not of a boy crushed by a cruel market, but of a state of consciousness moving into a new sphere. The Midianites are not agents of fate but of your own broadened attention, bringing Joseph into Egypt, the land of mind and appetite for action. Potiphar and the captain of the guard are inner custodians of discipline—guardianship over your thoughts, over what you allow to rule your life. In this light, the sale is the release from a former station—the old identity being pulled away from family and safety—so that Joseph might rise under the authority of a larger order. The trial is divine trimming, projecting your consciousness into a place where you can prove your latent power. Your external events do not happen to you; they report your present state. By recalling that imagination creates reality, you can interpret every unexpected turn as a deliberate move by your I AM to align you with your true station, your destined service, and your remembered wealth.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume you are Joseph in Egypt, under the calm guard of your I AM, feeling security and rightful power; revise the scene in your mind by affirming, 'This event is guiding me to my true station.'
