Genesis 36:35

Biblical Context

Genesis 36:35 records a succession: Husham dies, Hadad son of Bedad rises to reign, and the city Avith is named. It marks a transition of earthly rule.

Neville's Inner Vision

Genesis 36:35 invites me to read the outer succession as an inward significances. Husham dies and Hadad, the son of Bedad, rises to reign in the field of Moab; the city Avith names the new order. In this inner reading, the death of Husham is the passing of a former state of consciousness that no longer serves my life. Hadad's victory over Midian is the overcoming of doubt and the old fear that kept my energy scattered in the field of Moab—the sense of separation from the whole. The reign in his stead is a fresh assumption of authority by the I AM within me. The Kingdom of God is not distant; it is the active presence that now occupies the inner city named Avith. When I entertain Hadad, I am king, I am authority, I am the ruler of my inner landscape. The moment of this recognition transforms events into experiences, because I am the one who imagines them into being.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and assume the feeling: I reign within. Imagine Hadad as the I AM presence taking throne in your inner city Avith, dissolving old Midian fears.
