Genesis 32:17-18

Biblical Context

Jacob instructs his envoy to tell Esau the gifts are Jacob's and to present them as a peace-offering, while the procession signals that the inner self is behind the scene.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner theater, Esau stands for the outer reaction of fear or resistance. The 'gift' is a revision of consciousness—a feeling-state you offer to your own mind as if the outer response is already favorable. The command to the foremost messenger mirrors commanding the outer mind to align with the I AM. When Jacob says 'they be thy servant Jacob's' he is not deceiving; he is practicing the art of the present moment: the outer self is appeased because your inner king has already ruled. The line 'behold, also he is behind us' reveals that the true mover is the inner I AM, working from behind the scenes to fulfill the state you assume. Your goal is to dwell in the awareness that you are the lord of your life, and the appearances are but a script obeying your inner state. By this, fear yields, and the desired event unfolds as you maintain the feeling that the state is settled in you now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, identify a current fear or obstacle as Esau; imagine presenting a 'present' to it and declare, 'They be thy servant [my]; the present is sent from the I AM,' then feel the state of peace as already real.
