Biblical Context
Genesis 31:11-13 presents God's messenger speaking to Jacob in a dream, reminding him of divine watchfulness and ordering him to depart Laban's land and return to his kin, with Bethel as the covenant-place within.
Neville's Inner Vision
The dream image is your own waking I AM. The angel's words reveal that God, your inner state, has seen every circumstance arranged by your past thoughts and intents. Lift up your eyes to inner sight, for the ringstraked, speckled, and grisled cattle are only the varied forms of your current conditions; they testify that the outer world reflects your inner state. I am the God of Bethel, the remembrance of your original vow, the consciousness that you are in the presence of God now. When he declares, 'arise, get thee out from this land,' hear it as a command from your own I AM to move from limitation to the promised land of your kindred—your true nature. Do not resist the impulse to depart; instead, claim that you have already left in your mind, and live from the feeling that you are returning to your covenant place. Your life will begin aligning with that inward pledge as you dwell in that awareness.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, close your eyes, and affirm 'I AM the God of Bethel.' Visualize leaving the old land and stepping into the promised land of your true nature, feeling the vow fulfilled here and now.
