Water the Sheep Within
Genesis 29:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Genesis 29 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage presents a moment where it is still daytime and not time to gather the cattle; the instruction is to water the sheep now. The response says they cannot until all flocks are gathered and the rock is rolled away.
Neville's Inner Vision
Beloved, Genesis 29:7-8 speaks to your inner well and the timing of your use of it. The 'high day' is the present state of consciousness, not a clock-bound moment; 'water ye the sheep' is the invitation to feed the parts of you that are eager and hungry for your dream. The objection of the others reveals the old habit of waiting for external conditions—'until all the flocks be gathered'—but in Neville's view, the conditions are formed by consciousness, not circumstance. The stone at the well's mouth represents limiting beliefs, the sense that one must struggle to obtain supply. You roll that stone away by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled and by recognizing that the I AM within you is the source of all nourishment. When you water the sheep with inner sight and assurance, you align your world with your inner state; outward scenes follow the inward conviction. So the message is: the moment is ripe; engage the inner supply and the outer feedings will mirror that, in their own time.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, place your hand on your chest, and say, 'I AM the source and supply of all I desire.' Then visualize the well in you rolling away the stone and water flowing to feed the sheep of your life, right now.
