Biblical Context

Rebekah rises with the servant and follows; Isaac comes from the well, meditates in the field, and, upon sighting her, she veils herself. Isaac then brings Rebekah into his tent, where she becomes his wife and the union brings him comfort.

Neville's Inner Vision

Seen through Neville's inner vision, this scene speaks of a field within your own consciousness where readiness meets the I AM. Rebekah is the active state that rises when you answer a call from your heart to go forward; the servant is your discerning mind delivering your question to the inner I AM. Isaac, who meditates at eventide, is the stable, aware I AM—your central consciousness that surveys the landscape of your life and waits for the sign of fulfillment. The camels approaching symbolize thoughts and feelings moving toward the fulfilled state; when Rebekah lifts her eyes and recognizes the master, you witness the moment in which your old identity yields to the new, veiled no longer by doubt but by the readiness to enter a covenant with the Self. The tent of Sarah becomes your inner dwelling where memory and promise are joined; the marriage is the completion of the covenant within consciousness, not an external event. Thus this story teaches that when you assume the state of this union, your life is comforted by the realization that you are already united in the only true reality: I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already in possession of the state you seek; tonight, close your eyes and declare, 'I am now united with my beloved state' and feel it real in your chest, letting old doubts fade as you linger in the felt sense of union.
