Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Abimelech asks Abraham to swear by God to deal honestly and kindly, acknowledging that God is with Abraham in all he does and that he should live by the kindness shown to him and his family.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the scene is an inward matter. God is not a distant judge but the I AM standing with you as you choose. 'God is with thee in all that thou doest' becomes the assurance that your state of consciousness—your inner alignment—governs outer events. The oath to oath is an inner covenant you make with yourself to be true in every situation. The command to ‘swear unto me’ is a call to hold yourself to a standard of truth and mercy: extend kindness to others as you have shown to you, and refrain from deceit in all your dealings. The land you sojourn in represents your present life condition; by cultivating covenant loyalty within, you invite harmony and grace rather than conflict. When you feel this covenant as a settled truth of your heart, your external world reshapes to reflect that inner loyalty. Practice: assume the inner vow of honesty and mercy, and observe life responding to that faith; reinforce it daily with the feeling that the I AM approves and guides every choice.
Practice This Now
Practice: in quiet, declare, 'I am true to the I AM in every thought and deed; I covenant to act with mercy and truth toward all parts of my life, now.' Then imagine a warm presence approving your vow and guiding each choice.
