Read Genesis 2 in context

Scripture Focus

21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Genesis 2:21-22

Biblical Context

The verses describe God causing Adam to sleep and forming a companion woman from his rib. This signals inner order and the value of relationship as a divine endowment.

Neville's Inner Vision

Adam represents a state of consciousness; the deep sleep is surrender to the subconscious, allowing the divine imagination to shape what is real. The rib stands for a guarded facet of the masculine that is joined with its counterpart to complete the whole. The woman symbolizes the inner feminine principle and the relationship that completes a man when imagined into being. God’s act of forming her from the rib and bringing her to the man reveals an inner Imago Dei—dignity and unity within consciousness. Creation and order arise as you recognize that life is an act of imaginative alignment: you are the I AM, and your inner partner is the harmony of opposites within you. Marriage becomes an inner union of energies you consciously bring into alignment through imagination. The verse invites you to revise any sense of separation by knowing the entire world is born from awareness. When you hold this, you stand in the presence of complete wholeness, and your life expresses the divine order you imagined.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare: I am complete and in perfect relationship within my mind. Imagine a loving inner partner stepping into my life and feel the wholeness as real.
