Genesis 15:9-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God instructs Abram to prepare animals for a covenant ritual; the birds are not divided, and a deep sleep with a horror of darkness falls on him. God then proclaims that Abram's descendants will be strangers and oppressed in a foreign land, but will be delivered and return to their homeland with great substance.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, Abram is the I AM becoming aware of its future. The divided animals symbolize you separating the old belief from the life you intend to inhabit; the birds that do not divide are the tempting images of limitation you must not feed. The sinking sun and the deep sleep mark the quiet time of the subconscious, where the new state takes root. The horror of darkness is not punishment but the clearing away of fear as the self confronts its next form. When the voice speaks of a sure seed that shall endure bondage and then be delivered with great substance, you are being shown the inner pattern: separation in appearance, followed by inner release, abundance, and return to your true land. The generations and the Amorites refer to inner durations and old impulses dissolving as the state solidifies. This is not history so much as a map of your inner covenant taking form in consciousness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling of your fulfilled future now. Silently declare I AM the ruler of my inner land, and see the promise returning to you as already real, with the sense of abundance thriving in your life.
