Inner Covenant Sign
Genesis 15:8-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Genesis 15 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Abram asks how he will inherit the land; God prescribes symbolic offerings, a ritual of division and a deep sleep, signaling an inner transition from doubt to covenant faith.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your question, 'whereby shall I know?' is not asking for a fact outside you; it is a query of your state of consciousness. The heifer, the she-goat, the ram, the dove, and the pigeon are symbolic offerings of your faculties laid upon the altar of your inner being. To divide them in the midst is to partition old habits and align each part with the vision of possession you intend to inhabit. When the birds press in and you drive them away, you are mastering thoughts that would devour your certainty. The deep sleep that falls and the horror of great darkness are not punishments but the inward threshold through which the new state is born. In this trance you are shown that inheritance is a condition of consciousness won not by ritual alone but by the unwavering assurance that what you seek is already yours in I AM. The sign is the felt certainty that the land exists because you now dwell there as your present experience.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and feel that you already possess the promise. Place your faculties on an inner altar and, with the I AM awareness, drive away distracting thoughts until certainty remains.
