Belief Counts as Righteousness

Genesis 15:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Genesis 15 in context

Scripture Focus

6And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:6

Biblical Context

The verse states that Abraham believed the LORD, and God counted that belief as righteousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Belief here is not a ritual but a state of consciousness. 'He believed in the LORD' points to the moment you acknowledge the Presence within as all power and rightness. God does not count your deeds apart from the posture of mind that says, I am one with the I AM. When you hold that inner faith, the law of consciousness assigns righteousness to the very act of believing. The 'counting' is the inner accounting of your state; the external world simply reflects the quality you affirm. Therefore, your faith becomes the filter through which events are seen as rightful, just, and good. In Neville's terms, you must not try to change the outer world directly but revise the inner premise until it feels true. The moment you accept the Lord as the inner ruler—the you who never doubts—you awaken the principle that your awareness alone determines value, virtue, and fidelity to grace. The verse invites you to dwell in that certainty until it counts as righteousness in your life.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM governs your life; affirm, 'I am righteousness now because I believe.' Feel that conviction until it feels real, then watch outer impressions adjust to that inner state.
