Biblical Context
In Genesis 12:7–8, the LORD appears to Abram, promises land to his descendants, and Abram responds by building altars and calling on the LORD. He then moves eastward with his tent, builds another altar there, and calls upon the LORD's name.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this passage the land is not a map but a state of consciousness Abram enters when the I AM awakens to itself. The appearing of God is your awareness turning to itself, the moment you realize the promise as a revelation of your inner kingdom. The altar is a deliberate posture of the mind—an assignment of reverent attention to the LORD within—where gratitude and faith are offered. When Abram moves and builds again, he adjusts his inner geography, choosing a higher ridge of consciousness, moving from mere settlement toward conscious worship. Calling on the name of the LORD is invoking the I AM in memory, feeling, and steadfast expectation. The covenant promise becomes yours as you dwell in that consciousness long enough for the inner altar to testify.
Practice This Now
Assume the God-state now: declare I AM, and envision yourself standing on the promised land within. Then build your inner altar by offering gratitude and calling upon the LORD, feeling the Presence as your own awareness.
