Biblical Context
Genesis 1:1-5 speaks of God creating heaven and earth, the earth being formless, and light coming forth when God speaks. God observes the light is good, separating it from darkness and naming Day and Night, marking the first day.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse by verse, the story of Genesis is not history, but your own inner act. In the beginning your awareness imagines heaven and earth as potentialities; the formless void is the non-identified state of consciousness waiting for a defined thought. The Spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters is the quiet directing energy of awareness stirring your mind before a formation. When you boldly say, Let there be light, you are not commanding an outer phenomenon, but awakening the pilot light of consciousness. Light appears as the recognition that your inner state has a form; you observe it, test it as good, and then separate the light from the darkness by choosing attention. You name the light Day and the darkness Night, and thus you establish the first day—the policy of your interior life. The day of awareness repeats as you practice seeing, naming, and confirming, until the whole world within aligns with your chosen state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state that says, Let there be light in my mind now. Feel it real as you name Day and Night within your consciousness and dwell there until form follows.
