Awakening the Inner I AM

Galatians 4:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Galatians 4 in context

Scripture Focus

8Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
Galatians 4:8

Biblical Context

Galatians 4:8 says that before recognizing God within, people served external powers that are not true gods. This invites turning from idol-worship to the living I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Whenever you read Galatians 4:8—'howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods'—you are looking at your own inside state. 'Not knowing God' is not a history lesson but a moment of consciousness when you mistake power outside of you for power within. Those 'gods' are roles, opinions, conditions, or persons you've worshipped as if they held final authority. In truth, they have no substance beside your belief. The I AM, the God within, is the sole reality; by turning your attention back to that I AM, you reverse the script. Imagination creates your experience; therefore, you can revise your entire allegiance from the shadows to your living awareness. See yourself as the one God who governs your inner kingdom, and watch as false idols crumble from neglect. Your heart's memory recalls the truth you always knew: you are the presence that makes all things appear.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and in the present tense declare: 'I am the I AM; there are no other powers besides me.' Then revise any moment of idol-worship by silently affirming, 'From this moment, I worship the living God within and let all outer powers dissolve into awareness.'
