Adoption Within: Conscious Redemption

Galatians 4:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Galatians 4 in context

Scripture Focus

5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Galatians 4:5

Biblical Context

The verse says God redeems those under the law so they might receive adoption as sons. It points to a move from legal constraint to intimate relationship with God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your awakening is the act of feeling yourself already accepted as a son, not by works of the flesh, but by the inner mercy of consciousness. Galatians speaks of redemption from the old law; I hear it as the removal of the sense of limitation that keeps your attention bound to rules. The 'under the law' state is simply a state of mind that believes it is separate from its source. When you imagination-activate the assumption 'I am adopted,' you acknowledge that the Father’s house is your true home, and the adoption is your inner claim of identity. The moment you entertain the feeling of sonship, the old legal framework loses power; you are no longer governed by fear of rule-keeping but by the effortless authority of I AM. This adoption does not arrive from the outside; it is the recognition of your existing oneness with God. All your acts, thoughts, and desires then unfold from that secure, newborn consciousness.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling, 'I am adopted into the family of God.' Rest in that sense for a few minutes, letting the old sense of limitation dissolve and the new self take its rightful place as I AM.
