From Oppressor to Apostle

Galatians 1:23-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Galatians 1 in context

Scripture Focus

23But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24And they glorified God in me.
Galatians 1:23-24

Biblical Context

Transformation is depicted: the one who persecuted now preaches the faith he once destroyed. Through this reversal, people glorify God in me.

Neville's Inner Vision

You are not observing a history of another man, but the shift of your own inner state. The 'they' who heard of Paul’s reversal are inner witnesses—the thoughts, memories, and social fears within you. When you acknowledge that the inner 'persecutor' can preach faith, you affirm that your I AM self has found its voice. The faith he preaches is not an external creed but the living conviction of your own consciousness. When you assume this state, you are not imitating an event; you are re-identifying with the nature of awareness that knows itself as the one who enables, guides, and approves. The verse says 'they glorified God in me'—an image of your inner world shining through your actions, a sign that the divine light is now recognized as you. Your mind no longer measures by past judgments; it rests in the certainty that God is working through the present you, and the world reflects that inner realization. So the outer scene changes to reflect the inner conversion: the old self is seen as non-authoritative, and the new self, alive with faith, speaks and moves from I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: close your eyes and affirm, 'I am the faith I now preach' and feel that conviction as fact. Then act from that sense in a small encounter today, and notice how your words carry God-glory.
