Scripture Focus

31Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
Ezra 8:31-32

Biblical Context

We depart from the river Ahava toward Jerusalem, and the hand of God protects us from enemies. We arrive in Jerusalem and rest there for three days.

Neville's Inner Vision

Ezra 8:31-32 tells of a march from the river Ahava to Jerusalem, and it is your inner journey that is being described. The 'hand of our God' upon you is not a distant event but the operative I AM in you, the awareness that arranges every circumstance for your forward advance. The enemies and ambushes by the way are the restless thoughts and doubts that would stall your purpose; yet you are delivered because your consciousness chooses to align with divine order. The arrival at Jerusalem and the three days there symbolize the return of your aim to rest in the consciousness that already knows completion. In this sense, every outward act is a symbol of inward movement: you pass from one state of feeling to another with the assurance that the inner governor, the I AM, leads you to safety, clarity, and rest. Rest is not passivity but a period of inner integration, where the outer world follows the inner order you have assumed and feel real.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the I AM is guiding your steps now; visualize the river of Ahava receding as you move, protected by divine hands, arriving at inner Jerusalem and resting there three days.
