Biblical Context
The king's letter appoints Ezra as a scribe of the law of the God of heaven. It promises perfect peace for the task at hand.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this brief decree lies an inner script for our own consciousness. The 'letter' is the I AM affirming to you that you are the one who keeps the commandments of God—the inner law—within your mind. Artaxerxes, the 'king of kings,' represents the commanding presence of awareness that can authorize your acts. The phrase 'perfect peace, and at such a time' points to the assurance that a right moment exists in which your inner order is recognized and allowed to operate without fear or hurry. When you read the 'copy of the letter,' you are invited to align with a state of consciousness that is already governed by divine statutes. The outer decree becomes your inner conviction: you are the scribe who records and obeys inner law. Practice is to assume that you stand under this royal authority now, revise any sense of limitation, and feel that the law is active in you, producing peace, direction, and steady obedience. This is not control over others but alignment of your inner will with the divine order.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and imagine receiving a decree from your inner king, the I AM, naming you faithful scribe of your inner law. Then feel the authority of that decree and let peaceful action follow.
