Biblical Context
Jeshua and Zerubbabel stand to reestablish the altar and offer burnt offerings in fidelity to the law of God. Fear from surrounding nations presses in, yet devotion remains the foundation.
Neville's Inner Vision
Ezra’s act is your inner act. The altar rising inside, built by Jeshua and Zerubbabel, is the alignment of attention with the God of Israel—the I AM at the center of awareness. The fear that drives them to place the altar on its bases is fear in consciousness, a belief that outer circumstances govern truth. Yet by 'as it is written in the law,' they stand in obedience to an inner law that preexists perception. Their morning and evening burnt offerings are not rituals of the past but recurring affirmations that your mind will offer devotion to the divine order rather than be swayed by appearances. When you consent to that inner order, you are actively building the temple in your own psyche. Imagination creates reality; therefore, by daily revision and steady devotion, you anchor the altar in mind. The essential message: you do not need to overcome outer enemies; you need to awaken to the I AM, revise the scene as a stable state, and let the altar burn in your awareness until it becomes your natural reality.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise the scene: in your mind, rebuild the altar and place offerings of gratitude at dawn and dusk. Tell yourself, 'I AM the law in my heart,' and feel that certainty become your lived reality.
