Face Hidden, Self Revealed

Ezekiel 39:23-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ezekiel 39 in context

Scripture Focus

23And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
24According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
Ezekiel 39:23-24

Biblical Context

These verses declare that Israel went into exile because of iniquity. God hid His face and allowed the enemies to prevail as a consequence of their transgressions.

Neville's Inner Vision

Verse 23–24 shows that the outer events mirror an inner state. In Neville's terms, exile and judgment are conditions of consciousness, not geography; the 'heathen' are the voices of doubt, the 'enemies' the conditions of lack that arise when you forget your I AM. When you trespass against the divine, God 'hides His face'—not from you, but from your belief in separation. The sword that cuts them down is your old identifications dying as you choose a new story. The directive is to return to the I AM and claim the inner presence as your real dwelling. The true cause of change is your inner assumption; the outer appearances will bow to your renewed state. If you accept that the face of God is forever with you, the state of captivity dissolves, and the people return by the power of awareness. The chapter invites you to see punishment as the training ground where your mind learns to trust the I AM again.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, place a hand on your chest, and affirm 'I AM that I AM present now.' Then revise the narrative: see yourself dwelling in your inner house with God’s face shining on you, and feel the relief as old captivity dissolves.
