Turning Toward Righteousness Within

Ezekiel 33:12-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ezekiel 33 in context

Scripture Focus

12Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
13When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
14Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;

Biblical Context

Righteousness cannot shield you from transgression, and turning from wickedness is essential for life; past righteousness or deeds do not guarantee safety, while turning from sin opens the path to right action.

Neville's Inner Vision

Look within, for God speaks as your own I AM. The words of Ezekiel remind you that righteousness kept as a badge cannot save you when you slip into a moment of wrongdoing; and the wicked's future is not sealed by past sins, unless he holds to them without turning. In Neville's light, every line is a warning that your being is not measured by external deeds but by your present state of consciousness. To rely on yesterday's righteousness is to deny the living presence of awareness today; to cling to a self-image of sinless virtue is to confess a memory that cannot sustain you in fresh challenge. The only true salvation is a turning, a deliberate shift of the inner state so that you now act from the I AM as your source. When you declare the I AM and align with the right action in this moment, you are not earning favor; you are becoming the living order that your future calls forth. The day of decision is now, and you choose the state that breathes life rather than fear or pride.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, breathe, and say I AM; then revise the mental scene to feel that you have already turned from the old habit and are now living right.
