Biblical Context
God commands Ezekiel to prophesy against the forest of the south; a consuming fire will burn every green and dry tree and cannot be quenched. This signifies the Lord's judgment revealed to all who witness it.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the forest of the south as your inner landscape—the hidden field where memories, fears, and habits take root. The word of the Lord becomes a call to awaken to the fire already kindled in consciousness. When you set your face toward the south and drop your attempts to control the scene, you invite the flame to reveal what you have kept hidden: both vitality (the green) and habit (the dry) are touched by the same truth—awareness. The unquenchable fire is not punishment but the I AM presence asserting life, erasing fear, doubt, and distraction so every corner of you comes into view under God’s light. All flesh shall see that the Lord has kindled it; you, the observer, become the witness and the witness becomes the fire that purifies. Parables are symbols guiding you inward, pointing to the single fact: consciousness is the fire, and you are the one who watches it burn. In this awakening, judgment becomes a doorway to recommitment to the living I AM within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and revise, 'I am the I AM; this inner fire purifies my inner forest.' Then feel the warmth of awareness as it burns away fear and limitation, right here, right now.
