Biblical Context
Israel is described as polluted by the idols of their fathers and by false worship. The passage says their offerings and the burning of children pollute them, and God will not be enquired of while that idolatry persists.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of these lines as a mirror of your own consciousness. When Ezekiel speaks of pollution after the manner of your fathers, he is naming the recurring habit of choosing substitutes for the living presence of the I AM. The outward gifts and even the most dramatic sacrifices are merely symbols of inner attachments; you are offering your attention, your thoughts, your versions of God, to idols of fear, pride, or need for approval. And when God says I will not be enquired of by you, he is declaring that no inquiry from a contentious, divided self can awaken the truth that you already are. Real change comes by revising the inner assumption: you are not separate from the I AM, you are the I AM discovering itself. Cease seeking validation through rituals; instead, imagine the inner altar purified, the altar of awareness cleared of idols. Then the inquiry you seek will arise from a singular, integrated consciousness, not from a crowd of contradicting wants. Your true worship is the recognition that you are the temple of the living God as I AM.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM as the sole reality within you and revise outward ritual as a reflection of inner state. Sit quietly, declare I AM, and feel your inner temple freed from idols.
