Inner Covenant in Exile

Ezekiel 17:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ezekiel 17 in context

Scripture Focus

16As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.
Ezekiel 17:16

Biblical Context

Plainly, the verse shows that the self who rules by a broken oath and outward power dies in the exile of Babylon. It signals inner accountability—change begins within, not by external events.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your king is a state of consciousness, not a throne. The place where the king dwelleth is your inner center, the mind’s claim to command. The oath despised and covenant broken are the inner promises you once gave to align with God within and then reneged. In the midst of Babylon—the world’s distractions and appearances—the old self dies by your refusal to identify with its grip on life. When you remember that the I AM within is the true governor, a new covenant is born in felt reality. The dying king clears the way for a sovereign life that flows from divine law, not from fear or status. You awaken to the truth that you are not bound to outward kingdoms; you are the I AM, and through that realization, the inner exile becomes a doorway to your eternal kingdom.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and repeat, 'I am the I AM within; in me the old king dies in exile, and a new covenant arises.' Stay with the felt sense of that inner authority until it expands to all your life.
