Vine and Fire Within
Ezekiel 15:1-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ezekiel 15 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The vine among the forest is judged as fuel for fire, revealing that it cannot serve its work; this foreshadows Jerusalem's judgment.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the observer within Ezekiel’s vision, the vine is a symbol of your living consciousness—potential energy among the trees of form. The fire that devours its ends and the middle is the fiery testing of belief, the inner pressure that reveals what you have assumed to be real. When God says the vine is given to the fire for fuel, He is not lamenting a loss; He is inviting you to recognize that your present state, unless consciously revived, has no utility in the business of your true work. The Jerusalem spoken of is your entire habit of reacting to appearances, your outward life as it seems; but the inner possibility remains intact in the I AM, the awareness that never burns itself out. The function of this fire is purification, not punishment, and its effect is to show you that you are the one who can decide what becomes fuel and what becomes nourishment. Thus, you are invited to discover that the power to transform any circumstance lies in your assumed truth.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, rest in the I AM, and imagine yourself as the vine among the forest being tested by a warm fire; repeat, 'I am the I AM, and this fire purifies me.' Then revise: 'From now, this burning becomes fuel for my true work, and I am made fit to serve.'
