Biblical Context
In Exodus 9:13-35, God speaks through Moses to Pharaoh, announcing plagues to reveal His power. The hail falls on Egypt, sparing only Goshen, as Pharaoh's heart remains hardened.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, the plague and the hail are not external events but inner rearrangements of consciousness. The I AM stands behind all movement; the Egyptians represent the stubborn ego that will not let go of bondage. When Moses stretches forth the rod toward heaven, think of turning your attention upward in imagination, calling forth a rain of divine order that smites fear and confusion. The phrase there is none like me in all the earth becomes the inner sea of awareness in which appearances of limitation reveal their emptiness. The land of Goshen is the field within you where the Word is known and kept alive; the hail cannot touch it because it is governed by your inward decree. The heart of Pharaoh—your resistant self—hardens, yet this is simply a stage. The purpose is to awaken you to the truth that the earth is the LORD's, meaning your world is the manifestation of your I AM thinking. When you stop bargaining with limitation and simply feel, let my people go, liberation occurs in consciousness, and the storm passes, leaving a brighter earth in its wake.
Practice This Now
1) In a quiet moment, declare to your inner Pharaoh that your true self is free; 2) imagine the hail dissolving as you feel the liberating power of the I AM, and rest in Goshen, the proof of your inward rule.
