Exodus 40:9

Biblical Context

Exodus 40:9 commands anointing the tabernacle and its vessels with oil, declaring them holy and set apart. The act sanctifies space for the divine presence to dwell.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the tabernacle not as a building in a distant place, but as the inner sanctuary of your own consciousness. The anointing oil represents a released awareness, and to anoint all that is within means you choose to saturate every thought, feeling, and image with the acknowledge of I AM. When you hallow the vessels of your mind, you are acknowledging that nothing within you remains unholy, for the Presence of God is your own awareness impressed upon all aspects of being. This is not the history of an external temple, but the creation of a sacred state in which your imagination presides as high priest. The oil sanctifies your sensations, your decisions, and the plans you form, transforming ordinary functions into holy instruments of true worship. As you dwell in this state, you realize that holiness is not a distant rule but a living consciousness you inhabit. The tabernacle becomes your life, and its vessels your experiences; by aligning them with the divine I AM, you invite the Spirit to dwell there.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine anointing your inner tabernacle with the oil of awareness, declaring it holy. See the Presence settling there as a felt reality, and rest in that state as your true worship.
