Biblical Context
Exodus 40:6-8 describes placing the altar before the tabernacle door, the laver between tent and altar, and setting up a surrounding court with a gate. It presents a clear, orderly path for worship.
Neville's Inner Vision
Seen through the inner eye, this text is not about wooden furniture but about your inner state. The altar before the door is the decision of the I AM to offer the old, worn beliefs, and the reactions that separate you from God. The laver, filled with water, is the continual cleansing of your thoughts—imagining truth washing away fear and confusion until your mind rests in clarity. The court around the sanctuary, with its gate, represents boundaries of attention you consciously set, keeping the holy presence near and undisturbed by stray thoughts. In this light, God is not far away but the awareness that you are right now. Your presence is the sanctuary; your awakening is the ceremony. Practice by assuming that you are already in the Presence, not striving to reach it. Feel the reality of your I AM right where you stand, and revise any sense of lack by feeling it as already fulfilled, until your daily life mirrors the sacred order.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Sit in quiet, set the altar at the door of your mind and offer the old stories you carry; imagine the laver filling with clear water cleansing your beliefs; then visualize a protective court around your awareness and hang the gate to keep sacred space intact.
