Inner Rod of Power

Exodus 4:17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 4 in context

Scripture Focus

17And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
Exodus 4:17

Biblical Context

Exodus 4:17 invites Moses to take the staff as the instrument through which signs will emerge; the rod symbolizes the inner power of thought and alignment with God within.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, the rod is the symbol of your I AM, the steady power by which you draw forth signs in your life. When the command comes—take this rod in thy hand— you are being invited to claim dominion over your inner climate. Signs do not issue from outer events but from the belief you hold in the one presence within. The rod is not a weapon but a focal point of attention: your word, your feeling, your decision to stand as the living identification of I AM. As you imagine yourself gripping it—weight, texture, intention—you align your consciousness with the truth that you are the cause, not merely the effect. In this posture, every circumstance reflects the color of your inner state; obedience becomes trust in the divine within, not a duty imposed from without. The moment you assume, the outward stream bends to your inner state, and you witness the signs you seek. You are the sign-maker when you accept that power is already yours here and now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and, in imagination, lift the rod in your hand; say I take this rod in my hand, and I am the sign. Feel its weight and know that power flows from the I AM within, turning inner conviction into outward events.
