Biblical Context
The verse inventories the outer court's hangings, pillars, sockets, the gate's hanging, along with cords, pins, and all vessels used in the service of the tabernacle.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse 39:40 speaks not of stone and fabric alone but of the architecture of consciousness. The hangings are the boundaries of perception you consent to as real; the pillars are fixed dispositions in your mind that uphold a certain order; the sockets anchor those dispositions to a stable center; the gate is the moment you choose to enter the living awareness or remain outside it. The cords and pins show how belief and discipline connect and secure the whole structure. The vessels of service are your faculties—will, imagination, perception, and love—made ready for sacred work in the tabernacle, the tent of congregation, which is your innermost being. When you read these particulars, treat them as inner instructions for arrangement: build a sanctuary where the I AM, your true self, resides in constant presence. By assuming the feeling of the I AM already inhabiting this temple and acting from that reality, you impress order upon your life and cause your circumstances to align with holiness and service.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes, picture the inner court with its hangings, pillars, gate, cords, and pins; then revise by affirming within, 'I am the I AM' and feel the presence, allowing your life to reflect that sacred order.
