Biblical Context
Exodus 37:10-12 describes a wooden table, two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high. It is overlaid with gold, crowned, and bordered.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the table stands, a craft of conscious attention: two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high. The shittim wood signifies a stable, unpretentious state of mind, which you then overlay with pure gold—the awareness that God is I AM crowning every thought. The border, a handbreadth wide, sets boundaries that keep the holy thing intact, a discipline that guards your worship from distraction. The crown of gold around the border is your realization that the divine cannot be kept out of the smallest corner of your life; it encircles your entire experience, inviting reverent, sustained attention. This inner table is not a relic of the ancient temple but a living arrangement in your imagination, where the bread of truth rests as your daily nourishment. When you imagine this sanctuary and the Presence comes, your loyalty to the Covenant becomes a felt position in consciousness, a steady I AM that governs your thinking, sensing and acting. Practice worship in this way, and you will perceive God dwelling within as reference point, not distant deity.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and imagine the inner table in your mind, wood under gold, crowned and bordered. Rest the bread of truth there and affirm I AM Presence now.
