Biblical Context
Exodus 36:9-10 describes curtains of equal size coupled into two blocks of five; this internal arrangement symbolizes harmonized faculties. Those joined blocks form a boundary through which the Presence is realized in worship.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the curtain as a boundary of your inner temple, not mere cloth. The length and breadth are measures of your attention, and the uniform size reveals a harmonized set of faculties. The two blocks of five curtains joined to one another are not material construction but two orders of consciousness made one. When these inner panels are coupled, a continuous veil forms through which the Presence within can be sensed. In your life, the five senses and the five faculties of will, memory, imagination, perception, and faith can be harmonized into a single rhythm. The Presence of God is the I AM you awaken to when you stop citing separate thoughts and begin to feel as the single, aware center. The act of coupling is the spiritual practice of revision: declare that your discordant thoughts are only a curtain to be drawn, and affirm the unity that already exists in you. This is sacred worship: not ritual words, but the conscious realization that your inner world is a temple where God dwells when you dwell in unity.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the Presence within this temple' and mentally join two blocks of five curtains. Then feel the unity as your dominant reality and let that conviction dwell until it feels real.
