Exodus 36:36

Biblical Context

Exodus 36:36 describes four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold, each with gold hooks, cast into four sockets of silver, forming a sacred inner framework for worship.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this verse the four pillars symbolize fixed states of consciousness rather than mere timber. Each pillar represents a characteristic I AM must inhabit—faith, courage, gratitude, and obedience. The gold overlay signifies the light of imagination that beautifies and stabilizes these states. The gold hooks are the intentional links that keep them aloft in awareness, while the four silver sockets are the receptive foundations—silence, discipline, stillness, and receptive faith—where they rest. When I dwell in Presence, the inner tabernacle becomes tangible, and the outer world aligns with the arrangement of my inner life. God is not distant but the I AM within, the awareness that anchors every experience. Covenant loyalty here means fidelity to that inner awareness, maintaining the temple of consciousness steady and true. This architecture shows that true worship is an inner state, whose inner order manifests as outer reality when I calmly revise my assumptions and dwell in the Presence.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the four inner pillars exist within you, shining gold with gold hooks, seated in silver sockets. Feel the Presence now and repeat, 'I AM that I AM,' until this inner temple is vividly real.
